| SPLAT! |
SPLAT! (Students Protesting Lies About Tobacco) was started in 1998 by a group of dedicated, hard working
youth from around Thurston County. Our mission is to inform and help all who are affected by tobacco.
Every year, we teach thousands of young people around Thurston County about the the dangers of tobacco
use. We also encourage the community to help people quit tobacco. We go to concerts, schools and
community events, and have lots of fun teaching people the be more aware of truths and LIES! surrounding
tobacco. As long as there is a tobacco industry, SPLAT! will be there to protest their LIES! WHAT'S THE LATEST? SPLAT! enjoyed participating in street marketing @ Jingle Bell Bash 9 this December, handing out t-shirts, nose plugs, stickers, buttons and more to promote the edgy new youth campaign: "No Stank You." We also celebrated Great American Smokeout by assembling Quit Kits for health fairs, health care providers and general use in the community. This fall we held a fun overnight Youth Leadership Summit at a beautiful retreat center in collaboration with American Cancer Society’s SpeakOUT program. Last year we held a grocery-bag decorating campaign for 6th graders around World No Tobacco Day and distributed weepuls for Kick Butts Day. We took these sassy little creatures to a skate park, to school, and to our friends to spread the word about SeeThruTheSmoke.com. We also got together with other Youth Action Teams and recorded a PSA on KOMO-TV. COMING UP...
