"Strategies for Preventing Addiction"
A workshop featuring Dennis Embry
Prevention expert Dennis Embry, Ph.D., was brought to Olympia in December 2009 to give a workshop for the community, "Strategies for Preventing Addiction: Saving Our Future."
It was sponsored by TOGETHER!, the Thurston County Meth Action Team, the Child Care Action Council, Family Education and Support Services, Thurston County Public Health and Social Services, and the state Attorney General’s Office.
Some of the highlights of the workshop:
- Effects of meth and prescription
drug abuse on children and families
Proven strategies that work to help individuals and communities
Low-cost “evidence-based kernels” and “behavioral vaccines”
Blending cultural wisdom and rigorous science
